When GMC Canada launched the AT4X truck, they needed a commercial that would capture its off-road power, durability, and versatility.
Spatial Camera was brought on board to design and execute a concept that blended extreme terrain with world-class mountain biking, showcasing how GMC owners can take their adventures anywhere.
Kamloops, British Columbia, is the ultimate off-road playground and is a Mecca in the mountain bike world, making it the perfect backdrop for this high-energy shoot.
To capture the dynamic, high-speed action we mounted our Motocrane Radical onto a modified Can-Am X3 side-by-side, featuring 20” of suspension travel to absorb the rugged terrain we were filming on. These modifications allowed us to track the AT4X at full speed while ensuring the shots stayed smooth.
To push the visuals to the next level, we used our custom FPV drones to fly our Freefly Ember and Naked BlackMagic cameras into some very tight and difficult areas.
We also built a custom magnetic car mount system which allowed the BlackMagic drone to capture the truck in motion and then launch off the truck and film next to the mountain bikers riding on the side all in one shot. With countless hours of prep and visualization we were able to get the shot in a relatively short amount of time.
We also used our DJI Inspire3 and Red V-Raptor with Zeiss super speed lenses to round out all of our camera needs.
After 3 days of filming we were able to create some incredible images and great piece for GMC.
